NearTree

Meet people nearby, privately.

NearTree uses Bluetooth proximity — never GPS, never your exact location — to quietly notice when someone nearby is also open to connecting. No names, no photos, no profiles, until you both say yes.

How it worksConsent, at every step

1

Turn on discovery

Your device quietly checks for nearby NearTree users over Bluetooth — never GPS, never your exact location.

2

An encounter happens

When two opted-in users are close by, that's an “encounter.” It's private and anonymous on both sides — nobody's identity is shown yet.

3

You each decide, separately

“Interested” or “pass” — with zero visibility into what the other person chose, or whether they've decided yet.

4

Mutual match unlocks it

Only if you both say “interested” do names, photos, and chat unlock. A one-sided interest is never revealed.

Privacy & safetyBuilt to earn your trust

No GPS, ever

Proximity comes only from short-range Bluetooth with a rotating, non-identifying signal — never precise location.

A pass stays private

If you're not interested, the other person never finds out. No notification, no partial reveal, no hint.

Block and report anytime

Right from a connection or their profile, in-app. Blocking ends the connection immediately.

Pause discovery instantly

Turn discovery off at any time — your device stops advertising and scanning right away.

Discovery modesNot just for dating

Friend

Platonic connections — meet people to hang out with, not date.

Professional

Career and networking-minded connections nearby.

Romantic

Dating-style discovery, for when that's what you're after.

Mixed

Open to more than one kind of connection — you decide once you match.

FAQCommon questions

Can someone tell if I passed on them?

No. A “pass” is never revealed to the other person — no notification, no partial reveal, no hint, ever.

Do you track my location?

No. NearTree never uses GPS, cell towers, or any precise-location technology — only short-range Bluetooth proximity with a rotating, non-identifying signal.

How do I block or report someone?

Any time, right from a connection or their profile in the app. Blocking is instant and ends the connection immediately.

Is NearTree just for dating?

No. Friend and Professional modes exist alongside Romantic mode — pick what you're actually open to.
